Welcome Our Newest Girl

Elly arrived at New Day on Wednesday, December 7th. She is 5 years old and is such a happy girl! She has braces on both feet and a previous operation on one leg. She will need some physical therapy and we'll surely have her evaluated again at a good Beijing hospital to see in what other ways we may be able to help her. As you can see, she can walk with a walker and actually gets around pretty good, but isn't able to do stairs.

She has moved right in with us and seems to be at home already. I can honestly say she's been the easiest of girls to adjust to our family--though it is early on, it surely seems to be going quite well.

Upon arrival at New Day, each new child gets a complete check up with all the vital information from height and weight, etc. This way we can see where they were when they arrived and chart their progress to be sure they are growing and developing month to month.

Our nurse, Ellie, takes her vitals as well.

Time to go to the Forever Home, Elly :) We are so happy to have you join our family and know you will be well loved and taken care of. We've all been eagerly awaiting your arrival into our family!

Here she is settling in and doing some coloring by the Christmas tree. We asked her if she celebrated Christmas or knew what it was where she came from and she did not. Well, we have a wonderful holiday in store for you dear Elly. Christmas is such a fun and special season in the Western culture. I'm sure you'll come to enjoy it as much as we do soon :)

Every girl needs her very own dolly! I wish I could have captured the look on her face when I told her we had a dolly to give her and she got sooo excited, plumb giddy in fact!! Since then, she has taken to this new dolly quite well, rocking her and feeding her etc...

  1. What a blessing to see a new face at the Forever Home! And what a sweet gift to get to introduce her to her very first Christmas! I'm so glad that she is joining the family in easy fashion. And the sweetness of her face with her very own doll? BEAUTIFUL! I can't wait to watch her unfold beautifully under the care of your family! Hugs--Valerie
